Tips and advice on measuring your bathroom

Measuring your bathroom is easy. Just follow these 6 simple steps:-

1. Draw a rough shape of your bathroom. It need not be to scale or in proportion. The important information is the shape itself.

2. Draw in the position of any windows and doors. Again these do not have to be to scale

3. Using the above guide fill in the spaces for the measurements of your walls, windows and doors.

4. Make a note the position of existing equipment such as toilet, basin & bath.

5. Note which walls are internal or external.

6. Knowing the type of hot water system you have is a great help when choosing taps and showers. There are two types of hot water systems in common use:-

Low pressure

You may have a hot water cylinder and cold-water tank. If so please note the position of both in relation to your bathroom.
-The distance from the bottom of the cold-water tank to the bathroom floor is most important.
This type of system is known as low pressure, as the height of the cold-water tank produces relatively low water pressure.

High pressure

You may have a combi-boiler or a gas multi-point water heater.
- If so it is important to note the type of water heater and its position. This system along with `direct feed hot water cylinders` are known as high pressure systems, as they receive cold water from the high pressure cold water main.
